Summer season: Begins at the start of Term 4 and ends at the end of Term 1.
Winter season: Begins at the start of Term 2 and ends at the end of Term 3.
Specific dates will be confirmed closer to the commencement of each season.

The Melbourne East Basketball Association (MEBA) hosts one of the most successful Junior Domestic Competitions with opportunities for midweek and weekend games.
The Saturday Junior Domestic Competition is called Greater Eastern Basketball Conference (G.E.B.C) which incorporates Ringwood Basketball Association.
Waverley Basketball Club enters teams in both the midweek and weekend competitions. The midweek competition includes mixed (boys and girls) Under 8 teams and girls' teams playing on Monday afternoons/evenings, while boys' teams compete on Friday afternoons/evenings. All age groups and genders participate in Saturday competitions.

Playing ages for the summer 24/25 season will be determined by the year in which the player was born:
Under 8 - born in 2017 - 2019*
Under 9 - born in 2016
Under 11 - born in 2014 - 2015
Under 13 - born in 2012 - 2013
Under 15 - born in 2010 - 2011
Under 17 - born in 2008 - 2009
Under 19 - born in 2006 - 2007
* Registration for children born in 2019 will be reviewed by the club.

Summer season: Registration for the next summer season is now closed.
Winter season: Registration for the next winter season opens in late January 2025.
If you are registering to play in the Saturday AND Midweek competitions, then you will need to complete BOTH registration links.
We recommend the Midweek competition for players who have played at least two domestic seasons. All other players, including beginners, can play in the Saturday competition.
Please note that once the registration form is live, it is open for three weeks.
No late registrations will be taken.
All late enquiries will be added to a waitlist and you will only be contacted if a spot in a team becomes available.

Summer 2024/25 Season Fees
Saturday Registration & Team Sheet Retainer: $340.00 per player
Midweek Registration & Team Sheet Retainer (no training sessions): $290.00 per player
* Team sheet retainers cover the court and referee hire each week and entry to all stadiums.
** There is a 20% discount per sibling if the registration is done with the same email address on the registration component only. The team sheet component is not eligible for the 20% sibling discount.
Please be aware that there are additional, compulsory fees charged and collected by Basketball Victoria and Basketball Australia upon registration.
Basketball Victoria Annual Participant Licence for players (per 365- days)
$29.00 - Junior (17 and under) playing participant
$43.00 - Senior (18 and over) playing participant
Basketball Australia Participation Fee (Game Development Levy) (annual)
$5.00 (+GST) per competition player
Please Note:
* The $5.00 (+GST) Basketball Australia fee will be paid when a player next registers to a competition season (for existing players this may or may not coincide with the Basketball Victoria licence depending on anniversary dates).
** Both fees are email specific, so for returning players, you need to use the same email address you registered with last season.

Fixture Information
Game details are usually released the Thursday prior to the Saturday game. The fixture for all games can be found on PlayHQ, the My Hoops app or via the Nunawading Basketball website
Please be aware that there can be changes to the fixture right up until game day. Your team manager will communicate all fixture details each week.
There is a $140.00 fee payable if a team does not have the required amount of players to play and needs to submit a walkover.
Playing Times
Saturday Competition
Game times start from 8am for the younger age groups through to the later afternoon/ evening for the older age groups. Typically, U8 to U11 teams will play early to mid-morning, U13 and U15 teams will play mid-morning to early afternoon, and U17 and U19 teams will play mid-afternoon to evening.Midweek Competition
Midweek games are played from 4:15pm on a Monday (mixed U8 and all girls’ age groups) or Friday night (U11 and up boys). The younger age groups play earlier games.* Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of each game in full playing uniform.
** No undergarments or jewellery is to be worn.

** Please note a parent, guardian or responsible adult is expected to remain at games to supervise their player at all times.

Saturday Competition
Team training sessions are conducted once a week for 60 minutes, Monday to Thursday from 4:30pm. The day, time and location are determined only by the coach of each team and individual requests cannot be submitted.
Training sessions run every week during the normal school terms apart from public holidays.
Midweek Competition
No team training sessions for midweek teams, hence why they are not suitable for new players.

Jells Park Primary School (Gym entrance via Homestead Drive, Wheelers Hill)
Mulgrave Primary School (Gym entrance via Gladeswood Drive, Mulgrave)
Brandon Park Primary School (Gym entrance via Cootamundra Drive, Wheelers Hill)
Brentwood Secondary College (Gym entrance via Heath Street, Glen Waverley)
What To Bring To Training
All players must bring a bottle of water to each training session and the correct sized basketball:
Boys & Girls U8, U9 & U11 use size 5,
Boys U13 use size 6,
Girls U13+ use size 6,
Boys U15+ use size 7.
What to wear to training
Coaches may request that players wear their playing uniform for training; however, casual clothing is fine but please make sure there are no pockets and jewellery.
** Please note parents are expected to supervise their children at all training sessions.
** The club also does not provide stand-alone training, coaching, clinics or basketball classes outside of the training offered through playing with a team entered into a competition.

New playersYou must order a uniform immediately after registering to play. Our uniforms are made to order with a 5 week lead time. To be able to participate, ALL players need a playing singlet and playing shorts as a minimum.
New players will be allocated a number. There is no ability to choose a playing number.
For all new players (i.e. those that have not yet been allocated a playing number) please leave the number section blank when ordering.
Please note - We do not hold stock of playing uniforms for players to borrow.
Existing Waverley Basketball Club playersPlayers who already have a singlet number and are looking to purchase new uniform items should enter their current singlet number when ordering.

Team Lists
Your child’s team lists will be unveiled at our Presentation Day, held after the previous season’s Grand Finals. Please stay updated via our social media channels for more information. If you are unable to attend Presentation Day, kindly email our Teams and Selections Coordinator during the following week at teams@waverleybasketball.net.Coach
Every team requires a coach appointed by the club. About 1-2 weeks before the season begins, your coach will email team members confirming details such as team details, training schedule, and venue. All coaches must possess a current and valid Working with Children card. If you are interested in coaching a team, please contact our Coaching & Venues Coordinator: coach@waverleybasketball.net
Team Manager
One parent from each team is needed to volunteer as the team manager. This role is crucial as it bridges communication between the coach and players throughout the season. Responsibilities include coordinating a scoring roster and distributing game day and club information to team families. Further details about this role will be provided in the email from your coach. At the end of each season, Waverley Basketball Club hosts a Presentation Day where numerous team and individual awards are presented. For example, all Under 8 players receive a Participation trophy, and coaches recognise individual players with awards across teams from Under 9 to Under 19.
During this event, team lists for the upcoming season are announced.
Waverley Basketball Club encourages all players to attend Presentation Day to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of our teams and players throughout the season.
Details about Presentation Day are communicated through our social media channels and the club's official communication channels.

Team photos are scheduled at the start of each season, and we encourage all players to participate. The cost of the team photo is covered by the registration fee. Photo session timings are announced on social media and through communication from the team manager.
